FAQs

Q. What makes Payroll Giving so easy?

A.
You only need to complete a single form to start your donation; everything else is done for you.

Q. Is Payroll Giving tax effective?

A.
Yes, your donation comes straight from your pay before income tax, which means the charity/ies get the benefit of the tax straight away. Example of how much a Payroll Giving donation actually costs you:
Employee Pledges Cost to Standard
Rate Taxpayer
Cost to Higher
Rate Taxpayer
Cost to Super
Rate Taxpayer
£7.50 per month £6.00 £4.50 £4.13
£10.00 per month £8.00 £6.00 £5.50
£15.00 per month £12.00 £9.00 £8.25
£20.00 per month £16.00 £12.00 £11.00

Q. I live and work in Scotland, how does the different income tax levels affect my donation?

A.
For every £1 you donate to a charity you will pay; 81p if you are a starter rate taxpayer, 80p if you are a basic rate tax payer, 79p if you are an intermediate rate taxpayer, 59p if you are a higher rate taxpayer or 54p if you are a top rate tax payer.

Q. Can I give to more than one charity?

A.
Yes, you can add several charities to this form and you can always complete a second form should you need to.

Q. What happens next?

A.

Once deducted from your salary, your donation will be passed in full to the HM Revenue & Customs approved agency your employer is contracted with who is responsible for disbursing monies to the relevant beneficiaries per your instructions. At this stage, there is a small fee payable dependent on the agency (the agency receives this, not StC Payroll Giving - details available on request). In many cases your employer will cover the cost.

It can take up to 8 weeks for your donation to be set up.

Q. How can I cancel my Payroll Giving donation?

A.

Fill out this form and select that it is 'An instruction to cancel ALL Payroll Giving'.  Any instruction to cancel your donation must be completed by the last day of the month for it to be actioned the following month on your payslip

Q. What if I have more questions about my donation?

A.
Call our team on 01227 361 960 or email [email protected]

Q. Are there any administration fees if I join the scheme?

A.

Yes.

LBG pays the 4% admin fee (up to £10) for any donations through Payroll Giving. The fee is capped at £10 for these donations.

For CAF accounts - Admin fees up to £10 will be paid by LBG, anything over £10 will come from your donation.

For LBG Pensioners - The admin fee is not paid by LBG, the 4% fee will be taken from your donation.

Q. What is a CAF Charity Account?

A.
CAF Charity Account, allows you to put money aside to donate to any charity, allowing flexibility to establish standing orders, to direct your donations to your chosen charity along with the ability to make one off payments. You can decide how and when you choose to support the causes you care about, for example making a one-off donation to a major emergency or making regular donations to help charities close to you. Open a CAF Charity Account with a minimum of £10 each month for one year, or a one-off payment of £100.

Q. What if I have a complaint?

Disclosure Statement

Disclosure Statement January 2026:

StC Payroll Giving (Company number 04641570) is a professional fundraising organisation. We help set up and manage Payroll Giving so employees can donate easily and tax-efficiently straight from their pay.

We only receive a one-off fee from the charities we represent when our work results in donations being made. This means we're paid only when support is generated. You can see the full list of charities we work with at: https://www.stcpayrollgiving.co.uk/charities/.

We expect to receive around £700,000 in 2026, paid by the charities we work with. This is based on an estimated £19 million in donations being raised through Payroll Giving. These funds are shared fairly across around 180 charities we support, as well as other charities chosen by donors, depending on where each donation goes. On average, people who give through Payroll Giving stay with their chosen charity for six to seven years, providing long-term, reliable support.

Complaints Procedure:

If something doesn't feel right, we're here to put it right. You can find our full complaints procedure at: https://www.stcpayrollgiving.co.uk/complaints-policy-of-stc-payroll-giving-stc/

The APGO:

We are proud members of the Association of Payroll Giving Organisations (APGO), This means we follow a strict code of conduct that protects donors, ensures transparency, and maintains the highest standards in Payroll Giving.
