FAQs

Q. What makes Payroll Giving so easy?

A. You only need to complete a single form to start your donation; everything else is done for you.

Q. Is Payroll Giving tax effective?

A. Yes, your donation comes straight from your pay before income tax, which means the charity gets the benefit of the tax straight away. Example of how much a donation actually costs you:

Employee Pledges Cost to Standard
Rate Taxpayer
Cost to Higher
Rate Taxpayer
Cost to Super
Rate Taxpayer
£7.50 per month £6.00 £4.50 £4.13
£10.00 per month £8.00 £6.00 £5.50
£15.00 per month £12.00 £9.00 £8.25
£20.00 per month £16.00 £12.00 £11.00

Q. What is the minimum or maximum payroll gift donation?

A. There’s no lower or upper limit.

Q. Can I change or stop my payroll gift?

A. Alzheimer's Research UK benefits from regular donations, as it helps plan for our future research. If you set up a regular payroll gift you can cancel your donation or change the amount by contacting your HR Department, who will be happy to make these amend for you.

Q. What happens if I change job?

A. When you leave a company, the payroll gift is automatically cancelled. Please complete this online Payroll Giving form with your new company information and let us know that this is a replacement for any previous donation on the tick box.

Q. What happens next?

A. Once deducted from your salary, your donation will be passed in full to the HM Revenue & Customs approved agency your employer is contracted with who is responsible for disbursing monies to the relevant beneficiaries per your instructions. At this stage, there is a small fee payable dependent on the agency (the agency receives this, not StC Payroll Giving - details available on request). In many cases your employer will cover the cost.

Q. What if I have more questions about my donation?

A. Call our team on 01227 361 960 or email queries@stcpayrollgiving.co.uk

Q. What if I have a complaint?

A. You will find full details of our Complaints Procedure, escalation of complaints and how to complain on our website https://www.stcpayrollgiving.co.uk/complaints-policy-of-stc-payroll-giving-stc/
